Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Funding
Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ)

JB Hunter is a proud recipient of Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding. Eligible participants can receive funding for a range of short course training options. Funding is limited and subject to availability.
CSQ is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry.
CSQ provides funding to reduce the financial obstacle to training, making upskilling an affordable option for many more individuals in the building and construction industry. CSQ funding is paid directly to JB Hunter saving participants approximately 50% to 100% of course costs.
What is Funded under CSQ?
We receive funding from CSQ to provide subsidised Short Course training to eligible workers in the building and construction industry. CSQ funding is available for selected Short Courses, and are subject to the following conditions:
- Funding is available for a maximum of eight CSQ funded Short Courses in total between 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2027. This includes a maximum of three high risk work licences and three mobile plant operator courses.
- You or your employer must pay the set administration fee/s per unit prior to training commencement
- Complete your studies by 30 September 2027
- Further eligibility criteria apply
Some courses offered by JB Hunter are delivered holistically with units not funded under the CSQ program. In these cases, a separate student contribution fee applies. For units funded CSQ, an Administration Fee of $50 also applies.

Example: The Open Cabler Training Program consists of three Units of Competency. Only ONE of these units (ICTCBL247 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule) is funded by CSQ. For this unit, CSQ will pay JB Hunter $610 to deliver the unit. In addition JB Hunter will charge a $50 Administration fee.
As the full course includes two additional units (ICTWHS204 Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures and ICTTEN208 Use electrical skills when working with telecommunications networks) which are not funded by CSQ, students will be required to pay an additional fee of $225 for each of these units.
The total cost therefore will be $500 for an eligible student to complete the Open Cabler Registration course.
